Melbourne has this vibrant, urban energy to it that injected us from the outset. We woke up each day smelling the ocean and feeling the cool sea breeze in Port Melbourne, and would then wind our way into the city (and beyond, into grunge-central Fitzroy) and allow the sounds and colours of the beat-seeking youth to tick into our systems as each person, café, street busker, organic roadside store whirred in an incoherent rhythm with the city's well-oiled cogs.

This is the first place I have visited outside of my home in Cape Town where I could picture myself living. The gentle beauty of the coastline framing the edginess of a multitude of creative energy in the city drew me towards it. I think if it had some good waves a little closer, I would be sold for sure.

Oh! And SUCH good vegetarian food. Wow.
